Brain Ticking - Facts!

Let's get our brains ticking! You multiply two numbers together. Your product is greater than 50 but less than 100. What would the multiplication fact and product be? Comment below.

What do you need to survive?

We are discussing habitats and communities in science and we started off with a brainstorm of our own needs and wants before we started talking about the needs and wants of different animals and plants in the habitats that they are located in. The ones with a red asterick beside them created quite a discussion with some agreeing and some disagreeing. It was great to see the students debating amongst each other and coming up with the pros and cons for some of the ideas below.

Today we explored pictures of different animal habitats and talked about what a population is and what a community is in terms of habitats.

We will be exploring animal and plant habitats even further tomorrow through an outdoor field exploration trip.

Grade Four Awesomeness

We have just under two months of school left until summer holidays. Finally nicer temperatures are upon us and we have found ourselves wanting to be outside more and more. Sometimes it's hard to stay focused knowing we can be playing outside instead but we're trying to stay postive in order to get everything accomplished that we have left in grade four. I showed the students this video by Kid President about working together on a team and making each day count as an important one and an awesome one! It's called A Pep Talk from Kid President to You, if you haven't seen it yet I suggest you watch it. As a class we then discussed what's all awesome to us and what makes coming to school everyday awesome and how some of the most awesome things we experience are the littlest things that can make our day like painting in art, getting pizza for lunch, or when someone shares their markers with you.

So to keep the positivity rolling we have started an awesome board that will stay up for the rest of the year. I, as a teacher, love reading what has made everyones day awesome and I love how excited students have been about writing their thoughts down. We hope to have the board overflowing by the end of June.

Check it out:
